Hello! My name is Katherine (KJ for short), and I have been singing for my whole life. I hold a Master's degree in Music - Vocal Performance from the University of Central Oklahoma, and a Bachelor's Degree in Music - Vocal Performance from Texas Tech University.
I have sung in numerous opera and musical theater productions, in choral settings, and I have studied at opera programs such as Opera in the Ozarks, Red River Lyric Opera, and Music in the Marche in Italy. I also have sung with the Fort Worth Opera chorus, Garland Summer Musicals, and I am currently a seasonal professional Christmas caroler!
My teaching experience includes training in undergraduate and graduate level vocal pedagogy classes, and I have taught music in a private voice studio setting, as a graduate teaching assistant, and at summer musical theater camps. My students have ranged in ages from children to those that are 65+, and I believe that you are never to old or too young to begin to learn to sing!
I enjoy working with students on all things singing, whether it be audition preparation, character work or pitch matching. In my lessons I focus on providing a foundation of healthy vocal techniques and practices, along with detailed work honing in on the interests and goals of the student.
Whether you are a hobbyist or an individual wanting to audition for professional roles, I would be honored to support you wherever you are on your vocal journey.
